The municipality of Trebisacce (CS) stretches along the Costa degli Achei. Due to its panoramic position, the historic centre of Trebisacce is commonly referred to as the ‘’Balcony of the Upper Ionian Sea‘’: from its terraces one can enjoy an extraordinary panorama of the gulf and the Sibari Plain.
Trebisacce's seafront offers the beauty of its Blue Flag beach, which has been awarded several times for the cleanliness of its sandy shore, its waters, and its services suitable for all bathing needs.
The historical centre of Trebisacce, on the scenic plateau, was surrounded by the 16th-century city walls, erected to defend the town from raids by Saracen pirates. The walls, also known as the Bastion, only the ancient Porta Annunziata remains intact. Places to visit include the Church of San Nicola di Mira (1040), an eastern saint much venerated in Calabria, bearing witness to the Greek-Byzantine monasticism widespread throughout the region, with its characteristic ‘’trullo‘’ dome, and the Ludovico Noia Museum of Olive Oil Art and Rural Culture, Trebisacce's place of identity.
Housed in an old oil mill, the museum consists of three rooms and displays working tools and original documents related to the ancient local oil-making tradition. oriented to the promotion and study of oil, its importance and certification. In addition to oil, one of the most important crops in the Trebisacce area of Calabria is the Biondo Tardivo, a particular quality of Portuguese orange with the P.A.T. (Traditional Agri-food Product) mark.
Outside the historical centre, in addition to the Trebisacce Seafront and its wonderful beaches, archaeology lovers can visit the Broglio Archaeological Park: an ancient protohistoric settlement with an adjoining necropolis, whose excavation has brought to light several ceramics of Mycenaean origin.
