Albidona
Town
Albidona is a small mountain town located at an elevation of 810 m a.s.l between the Northern Ionian Coast in the province of Cosenza and the Pollino massif. The territory is remarkably interesting for geologists who study the Albidona Flysch, a geological formation extending along the boundary area between Calabria and Basilicata.
As for local delicacies, salame crudo (raw salami) was included in the list of traditional Calabria enogastronomic products. The village covers an area of 63,71 km², going from the seaside, that includes a stretch of beach in a pine grove in the plain of Torre di Albidona between the territories of Amendolara and Trebisacce, to high mountains (Timpone della Foresta, 1124 m).
Albidona is 12 km far from the sea and 18 km from high mountains, and, thanks to its geographical position, its climate is mild.
