Mongiana - Regione Calabria

In the heart of the Serre Regional Natural Park, in the province of Vibo Valentia, the town of Mongiana is inextricably linked to the Bourbon history of Calabria, since at the time it was the site of Europe's largest iron and steel pole.

What was known as the Royal Ironworks and Arms Factory of Mongiana between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, i.e., the industrial pole commissioned by King Ferdinand I of Bourbon and brought to its maximum splendour by Ferdinand II, is now an integral part of a museum immersed in the countryside: the Ecomuseum of the Bourbon Ironworks, one of the most fascinating sites of industrial archaeology in Calabria.

During your visit to Mongiana, do not miss a visit to the "Villa Vittoria" Park (reservation required), home to the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department:

a botanical garden with hundreds of tree and fauna species to be discovered through equipped trails, perfect for adults and children.
