Casignana is located in the Locride area, in the province of Reggio Calabria, along the Riviera dei Gelsomini.
The seaside hamlet is famous for the remains of the famous Roman Villa of Casignana, a particularly important archaeological site, since it is one of the few in Calabria that still preserves the original 1st-century A.D. layout and the thermal baths, embellished with splendid mosaic floors.
The town of Casignana is located on a hill and offers a visit to the Mother Church, with valuable works of art inside and a side altar with chapel, and the Church of the Santissima Annunziata.
The best time to visit Casignana? 16 August, on the feast of the patron saint San Rocco, when the festival of "Maccheroni con sugo di capra" (macaroni with goat sauce), the festival of "Capocollo" and the "Bread Festival", expressions of a genuine agro-pastoral economy, also take place.
