Megaliti di Nardodipace - Regione Calabria

Immersed in the green lung of the Serre Regional Park, in the province of Vibo Valentia, the small town of Nardodipace has become famous following a fascinating discovery, which has decreed it a small Calabrian "Stonehenge".

In the heart of the wood, not far from the town, there is one of the most striking geo-sites in Calabria: the Megaliths of Nardodipace, enormous blocks of semi-processed stone that have been attracting the attention of national and international scholars for years.

The excursion to the Megaliths of Nardodipace is the right opportunity to get to know the town and its surroundings, such as Nardodipace Vecchio, not far from the geo-site, the old settlement that was abandoned in 1951 after a flood.

Founded in the 17th century as a ‘’hamlet‘’ of the municipality of Fabrizia, on the ridge overlooking the Ionian coast of Reggio Calabria, Nardodipace tells a story of the past but still capable of moving for the simplicity of the dwellings and the humanity that inhabited them. Among the places to visit in the historical centre is the Church of the Nativity, built in the 1960s with the contribution of the sculptor Tommaso Cascella.
