Shrine of San Francesco di Paola

The Shrine and Convent of St Francis of Paola in Spezzano della Sila, in the province of Cosenza, is an integral part of the Saint Francis Path, one of the region's official Paths dedicated to places of faith.

Founded directly by St Francis of Paola around 1450-54, the shrine forms a pyramid structure together with the church.

On the ground floor is the cloister decorated with frescoes, tuff arches and wooden ceilings. The convent church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and features an apse enriched by paintings depicting the Flight into Egypt, the Adoration of the Magi and the Nativity, all works by Cristoforo Santanna from the late 18th century.
