The ‘’Antonio Garcea‘’ Monaco Visitor Centre is located in the municipality of Taverna (CZ), near the characteristic Villaggio Mancuso, the green heart of the Sila National Park. The biodiversity and naturalistic richness of this territory, part of the ‘’Poverella-Villaggio Mancuso‘’ Biogenetic Nature Reserve, are the protagonists of the Garcea Visitor Centre, the multifunctional complex that offers visitors and hikers an engaging educational experience for young and old. In addition to its primary function, aimed at preserving the natural environment, the ‘’Antonio Garcea‘’ Monaco Visitor Centre carries out an important dissemination activity of environmental education.
The structures that make up the Garcea Visitor Centre are the ‘’Nature Centre‘’ (conference hall, temporary exhibition hall and thematic museum); the ‘’Study Centre - Naturalistic, Environmental and Forest Education‘’ (didactic hall, library, didactic laboratory and open-air ‘’green classroom‘’); the two thematic museums ‘’The Forests of Sila‘’ and ‘’The Forests and Man‘’; the ‘’Green Theatre‘’ with a seating capacity of about 500 and the ‘’Piazzetta UNICEF‘’, which hosts cultural and recreational events. Lastly, there are spaces for the ‘’Ambientation and Diffusion Centres‘’ for roe deer, red deer, fallow deer and owls.
