The art in my dreams

This is the title of the painting exhibition at the Cloister of San Domenico curated by Lametina painter Mara Leone, whose works present an artistic exursus rich in meaning and polychromatic and polymateric nuances.

"The art of painting has always fascinated me since I was a child, so much so that I had my first exhibition at the age of ten and even won an award," commented Mara Leone. "Brushes and colours have always been my travelling companions, they help me to express emotions, feelings, sorrows and joys". As regards the works for the exhibition "Art in my dreams", the painter explains that they represent a bit of the kaleidoscope of life: from the passionate feeling of true and reciprocated love to the fight against gender violence. They are sometimes blurred, sometimes more pronounced. Figures outlined with different painting techniques and also on various materials as required by the flair and creativity of a true artist.

"As the mood of the moment dictates," Mara Leone emphasises. "The current exhibition at the Cloister was born after months of enforced confinement at home, after a particular period of my life in which the very difficulties pushed me to work with my imagination and overcome all critical issues with a true full immersion between brushes and colours to give new light and exciting perspectives to everyday life".

Among the works on display at the Cloister is "The Kiss", which won the national painters' competition in Florence in 2020.
