Fancy great cinema in summer? The Magna Græcia Film Festival is the main summer event in Calabria where you can meet the famous faces of national and international cinema live, attending screenings of extraordinary first and second works in competition.

Born in 2004 from an idea of the brothers Alessandro and Gianvito Casadonte (the current artistic director), the Magna Græcia Film Festival is by now a "cult" appointment of the Calabrian summer. What is the main news for the 2025 edition? The great “return to its roots” in the location where the festival was born: the town of Soverato (CZ), Blue Flag and “Baia dell'Ippocampo” (Baia di Soverato Regional Marine Park).

The only event of its kind, dedicated exclusively to first and second works, the Magna Græcia Film Festival aims to give space to young Italian and international auteur cinema, which is why the films selected for the competition are high-quality works that often encounter obstacles in large-scale distribution and deal with socially relevant, topical and particularly sensitive issues. The ambassador for this edition is Denise Capezza, an emerging face on the Italian film scene.

The setting of the Magna Græcia Film Festival in the fascinating scenery of the Gulf of Squillace, along the Costa degli Aranci, contributes to the magical atmosphere of its proceedings, which include side events starting in the afternoon (masterclasses, interviews, book presentations, workshops, etc.) and evening screenings up to the great end of the awards ceremony.
