4th Documentary Film Review of Cultural Heritage and Public Archaeology

From 10 to 12 October 2025, the 4th edition of the "Rassegna del Docufilm dei Beni Culturali e dell'Archeologia Pubblica" returns, a cultural event dedicated to the dissemination of the archaeological, historical and intangible heritage of Southern Italy through the language of documentary cinema.

The festival will take place in three locations of great historical and archaeological value:

• 10 October - Multimedia and Archaeological Museum of the Pollino National Park, San Sosti (CS)
• 11 October - Norman Castle of Santa Severina (KR)
• 12 October - Timpone Motta Archaeological Park, Francavilla Marittima (CS)

The programme includes the screening of 12 docufilms in competition selected among Italian and international productions, as well as:

• screenings of winning works from previous editions
• thematic conferences with experts in archaeology, cinema and tourism,
• presentation of volumes and catalogues on the history of Calabria,
• educational workshops for schools and visitors,
• guided tours of museums and host sites,
• storytelling and living history activities,
• and a special exhibition and audiovisual event:
• “Mario Carbone: the photographer with a camera”, dedicated to the figure of the great photographer and filmmaker.

The competing films will touch on themes related to Magna Graecia, the Mediterranean, and the history and traditions of Southern Italy, with also docu-fictions and 3D reconstructions.

Two prizes were awarded:

• Brettion Prize - to the film most voted by the public
• Enotri Prize - to the best archaeological work according to the jury of experts

The artistic delegations of the competing films will be present, welcomed with guided tours, tastings and stays in the territory of the Sibaritide.

Participation is free.

It is possible to enter several works (with separate forms for each).

All films will be screened in high definition and also made available online on a dedicated platform. The works will enter the historical archive of the Festival, remaining the property of the authors.
