Festival of Traditions in Piazza San Rocco

The Festival of Traditions in Piazza San Rocco is born in Cittanova, a new cultural and tourist event promoted by the Il Faro – ETS Association together with the Lato 2 and Pro-Fondazione Carlo Ruggiero associations, with the support of public bodies, schools, cultural organisations and social enterprises in the area.

The aim of the festival is to promote and innovate local traditions, revitalise the town's historical, artistic and environmental resources and transform Piazza San Rocco into a large stage for a wide range of events. The project combines the past and the future, keeping alive the link with the historic Transhumance festival and the popular celebration of San Rocco, which traditionally opened with the evocative bonfire in Piazza San Rocco, a symbol of community and sharing.

Until 28 September, Piazza San Rocco and the surrounding areas will become a vibrant centre of culture and entertainment, with musical events, live shows, religious re-enactments, themed markets, children's attractions, light shows and fireworks.

The programme includes unmissable events such as the Tradizionandu festival of folk and international music, the civil celebrations in honour of San Rocco and Cittanova Floreale, the only botanical fair in Calabria, hosted in the splendid Villa Comunale with nurseries, gardening sessions and green excursions.

Among the most eagerly awaited musical events are the concert by Fabio Macagnino and Movimento Terra (19 September), Baba Sissoko with the Mediterranean Blues Orchestra (20 September) and the event with Eugenio Bennato and Tony Esposito (22 September).
