From 8 to 14 July 2025, Art Nouveau Week returns across Europe, the international week dedicated to Art Nouveau and the arts of the early 20th century. A journey through the beauty, elegance and creativity of an era that has left its mark on southern Italy.

Among the more than 100 events scheduled throughout Italy, Reggio Calabria is participating with two unmissable events: two guided walks in the heart of the city to rediscover the often hidden signs that Modernism has left in the urban fabric of Reggio.

Thursday 11 July at 11:00 a.m. – ‘Modernism in the South. Between Art Nouveau and Eclecticism’
An itinerary through visual arts and flavours, discovering the buildings that tell the story of the transition between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Although the Art Nouveau style did not become widespread in Reggio, some significant examples survive and still fascinate today: from Palazzo Corigliano to Palazzo Spinelli, passing through the elegant lines of Palazzo Melissari and Palazzo Mottareale.
Meeting point: Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi 288
Duration: 2 hours

Monday 14 July at 9:00 am – ‘The nuances of Modernism in Reggio Calabria’
A tour between the seafront and the historic centre to be surprised by the eclectic and floral architecture that embellishes the city. Starting from Palazzo Corigliano, we arrive at the monumental Palazzo della Prefettura, designed by Gino Zani in 1921, and then on to Palazzo Spinelli and Palazzo Melissari. A journey through styles and details that recount an era of great artistic ferment.
Meeting point: Palazzo Corigliano – Corso Garibaldi
Duration: 2 hours

The walks are promoted by Italia Liberty, curated by expert Andrea Speziali, as part of the seventh edition of Art Nouveau Week, with the patronage of an international scientific and honorary committee.
