The Valentianum Complex in Vibo Valentia, the former Convent of San Domenico, now houses the LIMEN Museum of Contemporary Art and a series of beautiful works. The Valentianum in Vibo originated as a Dominican monastic complex in ancient Monteleone. Of the grandiose monastery, the quadrangular cloister, some cells on the ground floor and part of the ancient Church of San Domenico, now used as an auditorium, remain visible today. The original structure dates back to 1455 but was rebuilt in 1543, at the behest of Ettore Pignatelli. The convent exercised great influence in the social and ecclesiastical life of the city until the first half of the 18th century, when it was reused as a military hospital and orphanage. Today, the Valentianum in Vibo Valentia is home to the LIMEN Museum of Contemporary Art, which exhibits a collection of over 200 works by Italian and foreign artists who have won editions of the International Prize Lìmen Arte or have been acquired as donations by artists selected in the various editions of the prize and structured in three specific thematic areas: ‘’Scenes‘’, ‘’Signs‘’ and ‘’Geometries‘’.
