Tremusa Caves
Point of interest
The Tremusa Caves, located in Melia di Scilla, represent geological evidence from millions of years ago. Situated amidst imposing chestnut forests, about 600 metres above sea level, the caves are a destination for tourists and history and nature enthusiasts.
The natural site is of Pleistocene origin, at a time when the area was a seabed. Fossilised in its walls are Pecten shells, belonging to shallow seabed areas, which testify to the presence of water over the past millennia.
The water in the Tremusa Caves has produced numerous stalactites and stalagmites that make this place full of charm.
