TROPEArte Plein Air Festival

The second edition of the TROPEArte Plein Air Festival will be held in Tropea from 8 to 17 October 2024, offering a rich programme of outdoor art experiences. This year, the festival draws inspiration not only from the tradition of local masters, such as Albino Lorenzo, but also from the famous artist MC Escher. Escher, during his travels in Calabria between 1930 and 1931, was deeply impressed by the light, geometric architecture and breathtaking landscapes of the region, creating significant works including a famous lithograph of Tropea.

For one week, artists from all over the world will gather in Tropea to paint and create ‘Plein Air’ art amongst the town's picturesque alleys, panoramic views and beaches. The festival will culminate on 13 October with a celebration and exhibition of the works created, which will remain on display until 17 October.
