Trekking Train - Leonidas Route and Tauriani Park

On 24 April 2024, the Trekking Train initiative will take place, in collaboration with the Tourism Department of the City of Palmi; an experience in the name of Sweet and Sustainable Mobility that combines tourist transport by train and nature trekking excursion.

The Trekking Train initiative is dedicated to discovering the natural beauty of the Costa Viola and specifically of Palmi. The route, which will wind along the Leonida Path, includes a visit to the historic residences scattered throughout the countryside and in particular Casa Oliva, with a panoramic view of the Pietrosa beach, and Villa Pietrosa, the residence of the writer Leonida Repaci with its famous Guardiola, a small circular terrace overlooking the sea. The next stop is the Grotte di Trachina. Next stop is the Archaeological Park of Taureani, inside which is the Monumental Complex of San Fantino, with the Early Christian Crypt of the first Christian saint of our region. Inside the park, one can appreciate the stratifications related to the different dominations starting from the Bretti era and then appreciate the presence of the Roman and then Byzantine era. Along the ancient via del Vescovado, one reaches the beach of Pietrenere and the ancient fishing village of the same name.
