Trekking around the Giants of Sila

On 6 October 2024, a trek will be held around the Giants of Sila forest, an ideal route for families and hiking enthusiasts, designed to explore the area surrounding the reserve. The route, 6 km long and lasting about four hours, offers a complete immersion in the Sila plateau, allowing participants to discover the biodiversity and unique landscape of the Sila National Park.

During the trek, participants will cross the historic ‘Fallistro defence’, retracing key moments in Sila history. Episodes linked to land disputes will be recounted, from the period of the Bandiera brothers to the Sila agrarian reform of the last century, when the Opera di valorizzazione della Sila (O.V.S.) was born.

The trek will end with a guided tour inside the Giants of the Sila Reserve, enabling the participants to learn more about this extraordinary natural and historical heritage. Departure is at 10 a.m. from the Reserve, with return at 2 p.m. at the same point.
