Sila ‘49 Prize

The appointment with one of the most important and long-lived Italian literary prizes is back: from 6 to 8 June 2025, Cosenza and Camigliatello Silano will host the thirteenth edition of the Sila Prize ‘49, an event that combines critical reflection, civil commitment and the enhancement of contemporary culture.

Established in 1949 as a sign of the cultural and civil reconstruction of post-war Italy, the Sila Prize has been able to renew itself, while maintaining its own identity: to promote free thought, cultural debate and the encounter between generations. Today, as then, the prize is an open space for reflection on society and our times, through the power of literature, non-fiction and critical thinking.

The 2025 winners:

• Nicoletta Verna wins the Prize for the Literature section with I giorni di vetro
• Paola Caridi, with Il gelso di Gerusalemme, won the Economy and Society section
• The Career Prize was awarded to Nadia Fusini, a refined scholar and public intellectual, for her commitment to comparative literature, translation and the promotion of women's rights.

The weekend programme: three days between Cosenza and Camigliatello Silano, including dialogues, lectio magistralis and ceremonies.

• On Friday 6 June, in Cosenza (Piazza dei Follari, 6.30 p.m.), Tomaso Montanari will dialogue with Paola Caridi on his latest book.
• Saturday 7 June, double appointment: at 11.30 am, Nadia Fusini's lectio magistralis on Shakespeare and Cervantes in the National Gallery of Palazzo Arnone; at 6.30 pm, the award ceremony conducted by Ritanna Armeni.
• On Sunday 8 June, at the Foundation's headquarters in Camigliatello Silano (11:00 a.m.), dialogue between Viola Ardone and Emanuele Trevi on the theme ‘Tessere le storie’ (Weaving stories).
