From 14 to 19 July 2025, Lamezia Terme will once again become a crossroads of cinema, thought and creativity with the twelfth edition of the Lamezia International Film Fest (LIFF), a well-established event in the Calabrian cultural scene and recently recognised as an institutional event of the city.

An exceptional preview with Carlo Verdone on 5 July at the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria officially inaugurates the festival, which this year pays tribute to the visionary genius of David Lynch with a poster inspired by The Elephant Man, designed by artist Pasquale De Sensi.

The chosen slogan – “I am a human being” – is an invitation to rediscover the human gaze in art and society, a powerful call for empathy and dignity, which are more urgent today than ever.

The locations of LIFF2025 – including the Giardini del Novecento, Il Piccolo in Piazza Mazzini, Civico Trame, Palazzo Greco Stella and the Lametino Archaeological Museum – will host a rich and varied programme: screenings, competitions, meetings, exhibitions and masterclasses that intertwine languages, visions and generations.

All the main sections of the festival have been confirmed:

  • Colpo d'Occhio, an international competition for quality works from around the world;
  • Premio Ligeia, a space dedicated to criticism and reflection;
  • Monoscopio, a monographic section focusing on guests;
  • Cinema in Calabria, to promote productions made in the region.

Special guests will enliven the festival with meetings and discussions open to the public: among others, Michele Placido, Lucia Mascino, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Barbara Baraldi, Gianluca and Massimo De Serio, Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia, Lucia Sardo, Francesco Gheghi, Eugenio Attanasio, Anna Piscopo, Marcello Capra, and Aldo De Scalzi.

The programme also includes acting masterclasses by the Etopea Film School, book presentations and training sessions.

Among the events not to be missed is the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Dylan Dog with Barbara Baraldi at the Lametino Archaeological Museum on 18 July, in collaboration with Romics, followed by themed events such as musical performances by Antonietta Santacroce, Francesco Scaramuzzino and Paolo Bax.
