On 14 and 15 December 2024, we are waiting for you for an immersion in history, nature and culture in the enchanting Amendolea Valley, located in the heart of the Greek Area. An unforgettable weekend, among primordial landscapes and ancient traditions, that will take you to discover some of the most authentic and fascinating places of the Ionic Aspromonte.
Saturday 14 December
The journey begins in the evocative village of Amendolea, born under the ruins of the Norman castle and the Locrian village of Peripoli. From here we will walk to Gallicianò, a jewel of Greek-Calabrian culture. This small Hellenic-speaking town is the guardian of ancient language and traditions, where the link with Greece is still alive even in religion. The route will take us along the spectacular Amendolea river, amid lunar scenery and breathtaking landscapes.
The day ends with a special evening: at the Agriturismo Il Bergamotto, you will be able to attend a music-theatre performance by Erica Filocamo, a Sicilian singer-songwriter and actress.
Sunday 15 December
The second day will take us to discover Bova, the capital of Bovesia, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Here, you will be able to admire the historical and architectural testimonies of a place unique for its culture and beauty. On the way back, we will stop at the abandoned village of Amendolea, with its majestic castle dominating the valley, a symbol steeped in history and charm.
