Visit to the Laos Archaeological Park
On Wednesday 25 February 2026, the Laos Archaeological Park will open its doors to the public for a special visit

Guided Tour
On Wednesday, 25 February 2026, the Municipality of Santa Maria del Cedro will host a special opening of the Laos Archaeological Park in Marcellina. The event will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will feature free admission and a guided tour. Local schools will also participate in the event.
Spanning approximately 60 hectares on the hill of San Bartolo, the park preserves the remains of the ancient city of Laos, an Achaean colony that gained autonomy after the arrival of non-Greek ethnic groups. Excavations have revealed the city's layout, including a north-south plateau and orthogonal secondary roads. They have also uncovered blocks of high-status dwellings organized around central courtyards, which were equipped with advanced water collection and management systems.
This event aims to raise awareness of one of the Upper Tyrrhenian Cosentino's main archaeological sites among the local community.
