Graecalis | Tragodia – From the abyss to the light

On 10 July 2025, the San Giovanni Monumental Complex in Catanzaro will host “Tragodia – From the Abyss to the Light”, the opening event of the Graecalis project, a complex theatrical and cultural journey that will unfold between 2025 and 2026, with the aim of reinterpreting classical tragic heritage in a contemporary key.

During the evening, the official programme and the association's artistic line will be previewed, with speeches by the protagonists and reflections on the theme that will guide the entire project: “From light to the abyss”, a theme that has its roots in ancient drama to question the present.

Accompanying the audience, staged readings and performances inspired by the great texts of Greek tragedy – from Oedipus Rex to Oresteia, from The Trojan Women to The Persians – will offer a first taste of the atmospheres and visions that will culminate in 2026 with an original reinterpretation of one of the most complex works of classical theatre.
