Diaspéiro – Migrant Festival returns to Mesoraca, the thematic section of Mesoraca in Festival dedicated to the themes of migration, identity and roots. Conceived and directed by writer Angela Bubba, the event – now in its second edition – confirms its role as a space for reflection and discussion on issues that are more relevant than ever, including uprooting, wandering and the possibility of rebirth.
The name of the festival, inspired by the Greek 'διασπείρω' ('diaspéiro'), refers on the one hand to dispersion and diaspora, and on the other to the positive sense of 'disseminating': an invitation to think of migration not only as loss, but also as an opportunity for regeneration, encounters and new belongings. This year's three special guests will bring their voices and literary journeys to Mesoraca:
- 23 September: Gëzim Hajdari, Nobel Prize nominee for Literature;
- 1 October: Mario Desiati, winner of the 2022 Strega Prize;
- 11 October: Carmen Verde, one of the most incisive new voices in Italian fiction.
