In the elegant rooms of the Complesso San Giovanni in Catanzaro, a unique exhibition inspired by the wonders of Calabrian fairy tales comes to life. The initiative is based on the historical text by Letterio di Francia, “Fiabe e Novelle Calabresi” (Calabrian Fairy Tales and Stories), and offers a glimpse into how stories and fairy tales have crossed cultures and generations.
The exhibition, entitled Cuntàra Cùnti, features works by contemporary artists who reinterpret the themes of storytelling and dreams, including Dias&Riedweg, Paola Gandolfi, Gioacchino Pontrelli, Alessandro Piangiamore, Donatella Spaziani, Francesco Vaccaro, Valentina Vannicola, and Andrea Winkler & Stefan Panhans. The exhibition is complemented by live performances by Teodora Grano, Gaetano Palermo, and Michele Petrosino, and the presentation of Teresa Macrì's book Stato di incanto.
The exhibition can be visited at the Complesso Monumentale San Giovanni every day except Monday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., until February 22, 2026. Admission is free.
This is an unmissable opportunity to experience Calabria through art and storytelling, letting yourself be guided by the enchantment of fairy tales that continue to describe our world in new and surprising ways.
