9 October 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of the Codex Purpureus Rossanensis' inclusion in UNESCO's prestigious 'Memory of the World' list. To celebrate this anniversary, the Diocesan and Codex Museum of Rossano, together with the Archdiocese and important cultural partners, presents the exhibition 'Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, 10 years since its inscription in the Memory of the World'.
Curated by Lucinia Speciale of the University of Salento, Cecilia Perri and Antonio Aprelino, the exhibition is organised in collaboration with the Diocesan Museum, the Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Cosenza and the Colli Albani Latin Archaeological Group. The exhibition offers a unique journey of discovery of the Codex, with particular attention to the three facsimile editions, including the 2018 edition created with high-resolution images taken during the last restoration.
The journey will be enriched by the screening of the documentary 'Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, a Gospel for the Memory of the World', which recounts the process that led to the Rossanensis becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The celebration will begin at 4 p.m. with the inauguration of the exhibition and the presentation of the stamp The Excellence of Cultural Heritage dedicated to the Codex, issued by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy and distributed by Poste Italiane.
The exhibition will be open from 10 October 2025 until 9 October 2026, during the Museum's opening hours, and is included in the admission ticket.
