Cetraro - Bee Friendly Town

The realisation of the project was born with the intention of promoting all actions aimed at guaranteeing a model of eco-sustainable development, paying, in particular, great attention to the protection of bees, which is why the municipality of Cetraro has adhered to the protocol of understanding "Bee Friendly Town" approved and signed with the bio-district of the upper Tyrrhenian Baticòs, whose purpose is to promote, with respect for their respective competences, all forms of collaboration, in order to stimulate and increase information and training, and to stimulate and increase awareness of the vital importance of bees for the entire community, with a special focus on farmers, schools and social farming initiatives.

On 10 and 11 July 2023, the "Cetraro Bee Friendly Town" project will be implemented by setting up one of the most evocative streets in the historic centre of the municipality of Cetraro (Via Roma) in the direct vicinity of Piazza del Popolo, with stands of food and wine and beekeeping products to rediscover culinary and popular traditions through the tasting of typical local products and honey produced by local beekeepers. All accompanied by the singing performance of an authoritative representative of Calabrian folk music, Cosimo Papandrea. A dedicated bus will take tourists, holidaymakers and citizens to discover the production, works, historic centre and history of ancient Cetraro.
