From 6 to 11 August 2025, the Sila plateau will come alive with sounds, stories and ancient steps with Magarìe Sonore, the festival dedicated to rediscovering the traditional dances of the Upper Marchesato. The town of Serrisi, in the municipality of San Giovanni in Fiore (CS), will host six intense days of dance workshops, music, singing, traditional cuisine, cultural encounters, excursions and the inevitable abballu festivals, authentic moments of sharing that celebrate Calabrian identity.

Magarìe Sonore is more than an event: it is an immersive experience that brings tradition and community together, with tambourines and chitarre battenti, Silane recipes, readings, rituals, stories and reflections on the territory, women and the environment.

The programme includes:

  • Thematic workshops on Marchesato dancing, traditional singing, chitarra battente and tambourine, led by local masters and musicians;
  • Traditional cooking experiences, excursions in the green Sila mountains and a day at Lake Arvo;
  • Cultural meetings on identity, environmental and spiritual themes, with book presentations and discussions with experts and enthusiasts;
  • And, every evening, the soul of the festival: the feste all'abballu, where music meets dance, smiles and collective memory.
