Chiesa Madre dell'Assunta, Verbicaro - Giuseppe Ciottariello

The Mother Church of the Assunta in Verbicaro (CS) was built in the early 1500s and enlarged over the centuries. Restored in different periods, with significant interventions between 1880 and 1927, and more recent works between 1998 and 2006, during the restorations, the Mother Church of Verbicaro has yielded valuable evidence of the ancient construction phases, such as the pillars and the floor of the nave. The present church, of 19th-century style, has a classical stone façade with a portal in local stone. Inside are wooden statues, a painted panel and two wooden organs. The sacristy contains vestments from the 17th century and sacred objects from the 16th and 17th centuries. The Mother Church of the Assunta of Verbicaro borders the main square of the village (‘’a chiàzza‘’).
