Convent of the Angels
Place of worship
Convento degli Angeli, Badolato - Comune di Badolato
Visit the 17th-century Convent of the Angels in Badolato (CZ), the Franciscan convent in a panoramic position in Badolato Borgo, among Italy's Most Beautiful Villages. The Convent of the Minor Franciscan Fathers stands in the locality of San Rocco. Erected in 1602, it is one of the largest monasteries in Calabria, with two cloisters. Owned by the Franciscans until the 1970s, the Convent of the Angels in Badolato is now home to the ‘’World X‘’ rehabilitation community. The Convent Church is open to the faithful, particularly on the occasion of Badolato's Holy Saturday rites, and houses the wooden group of the Madonna with the Angels Players (linked to a local legend) and a wooden crucifix by Fra Diego himself.
