From 12 to 14 September 2025, the Gianfranco Labrosciano Centre for Contemporary Art Studies in Cosenza will host the first edition of the cultural festival 'Stories and Reflections – Empowerment of People and Communities', an event dedicated to the power of language as a tool for individual and collective growth and as a weapon against violence, with a particular focus on violence against women.
The event will open on Friday 12 September at 10:00 am with Languages of Community, an urban trek through the historic centre of Rende organised by Divini Itinerari, to rediscover often forgotten artistic, architectural and landscape beauties, and the language of the places and communities that inhabit them.
On Saturday 13 September, the festival will move to the Alt Art Art Park, which will host the opening of Ivana Russo's photographic exhibition Women's Gazes, open until 29 September, and three talks on the language of gender-based violence with Nadia Somma and Stefania Rossi. In the afternoon, the Lea Melandri Archive, a historical and cultural testimony to women's commitment, curated by Anna Petrungaro and Angela Azzaro, will be presented.
Sunday 14 September will be dedicated to the Constructive Journalism Workshop, from 10:30 to 17:00, to explore how language can become a tool to combat violence against women.
