The Medieval Archaeological Park of Ancient Miletus presents "Ruggero's Autumn", a series of literary walks that intertwine history, culture and nature. Ten events will take the public on a journey to discover the area, from antiquity to the Norman epic, passing through the great earthquakes that have marked its history.
Scholars and experts, in a dialogical and engaging format, will guide participants to discover new places and themes, contributing to the enhancement and protection of local heritage in view of the European Year of the Normans 2027.
The first meeting, on 24 September, will open at 4.30 pm at the Casa della Cultura in Mileto, with institutional greetings, followed by a transfer to the Abbey of SS. Trinità of the Archaeological Park. The protagonists of the day will be Alfonso Grillo and Maurizio Bonanno, who will present "The Norman Way", a historical and naturalistic journey between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas that combines culture, spirituality and local flavours.
The walks will continue every week until 19 December, with insights into coins, monasticism, the archaeology of oil, social archaeology, relations with Norman Sicily, Jewish communities and much more.
