On Saturday 27 September 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the council chamber of Platania Town Hall, named after Avv. L. Cerminara, will host the ceremony for the presentation of the Platania Award “Village of Roots” ceremony, an event that each year honours individuals born in the mountain village in the province of Catanzaro or who, although not from Platania, have forged a significant relationship with it.
The 2025 edition of the award will be presented to Antonio Barillà, journalist and head of the sports editorial office of 'La Stampa', for his outstanding professional achievements and his deep connection with Platania, his mother's hometown.
From his beginnings in local Calabrian broadcasters to the most authoritative names in national sports journalism, Barillà has always maintained a connection with his roots, spending his childhood summers in Platania surrounded by traditions, local culture and football tournaments.
