In Tropea, amidst the waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the evocative terraces overlooking the cliff, the Latin Sail Meeting, now in its third edition, is back. An event organised with passion by the Vela Club Tropea, celebrating the most authentic roots of traditional Mediterranean seafaring.
An unmissable appointment for sea, culture, and historical navigation enthusiasts, with the participation of boats from Central and Southern Italy, authentic floating symbols of an ancient maritime civilisation.
Saturday 14 June - From 11.00 am
The event will officially open at the Port of Tropea, with an introduction dedicated to the history and significance of the Latin sail: the characteristic triangular sail mounted on an inclined mast, which for centuries guided the routes of fishermen and traders.
At 5.00 pm, also at the port, a conference will be held on the historical and symbolic value of the Latin sail, with speeches by experts, institutions, and representatives of local communities, including Tropea and Parghelia.
Sunday 15 June - From 10.00 am
Latin sails will set sail for the Challenger Trophy challenge, which will animate the waters off Tropea with an epic sailing race. An exciting moment, visible from the city's terraces, where sport and memory meet between wind and waves. At 5.00 pm the official prize-giving ceremony will take place, with the presentation of the Challenger Trophy and the 2024/25 Offshore Championship awards.
