This summer, Polistena will be lit up with irony, light-heartedness and comedy thanks to Jesters, Dracma's stand-up comedy festival, which is returning again this year to bring life to the charming Town Hall garden in the evenings. There will be four outdoor events featuring some of the biggest names in Italian comedy, offering weekends of laughter and aperitifs in good company before facing a new Monday with a smile. This year's programme features an irresistible blend of biting irony, social satire and surreal perspectives on reality, presented by four performers who will make you think and laugh.
The first event, on 18 July, features Monir Ghassem, a familiar face from Comedy Central, Propaganda Live and In&Out. He will present a hilarious monologue about the lives of Italian graduates, with their endless job applications, unlikely contracts and parents who need convincing that 'things don't work the same way as they did in their day'.
On 20 July, Emanuela Cappello takes to the stage. Having exploded online with her viral sketches, she brings a world of limping poetry, metro C, elusive loves and bikini irony to life, recounting the reality of the working class with her unique and brilliant brand of comedy.
On 26 July, Marco Ceccotti returns, fresh from the success of 'LOL Talent Show' on Prime Video, with 'Mai fatto sold out': a candid, hard-hitting and irresistibly funny monologue that has already won over Calabrian audiences in previous GIULLARI editions.
The grand finale on 27 July features Matteo Nicoletta, another star of LOL Talent Show, who will present Rapporti protetti, a monologue written with Daniele Grassetti that provides an ironic guide to navigating the absurdities of modern relationships and the pitfalls of everyday life.
