Guido Aloise, a hundred years after his birth

On the centenary of Guido Aloise's birth, the city of Cosenza pays tribute to one of the most significant personalities of 20th-century Italian painting. Born in Fiumefreddo Bruzio in 1925, Aloise was able to interpret reality with an intense and lyrical style, capable of asserting himself in Italy and abroad through exhibitions, frescoes and works that tell of a Calabria suspended between memory, faith and poetry.

The commemorative event, “Guido Aloise, a hundred years after his birth”, will be held in the heart of the historic centre, in the prestigious Salone degli Stemmi of the Diocesan Museum on 17 May 2025, with a ceremony combining art, institutions and family testimonies. During the event, an original work by the Maestro will be donated to the museum's permanent collection, sealing the deep bond between the artist and his homeland.
