From 22 to 24 July 2025, the Gioia Film Fest returns, the cultural event that transforms the ancient village of Gioia Tauro into an open-air cinema. This year's edition will be entirely dedicated to Matteo Garrone, one of Italy's most award-winning and internationally recognised directors, author of intense and visionary films such as Gomorra, Dogman and Io Capitano.
The festival will be opened on Monday 22 July by Garrone himself, who will hold a masterclass at 5 pm in the Sala Fallara (free admission upon reservation). Afterwards, in Piazza Silipigni, the director will meet the public before the evening screening of his latest masterpiece, Io Capitano. The screening schedule:
- 22 July – Io Capitano
- 23 July – Gomorra
- 24 July – Pinocchio
All screenings will begin at 9:30 p.m. at Piano delle Fosse, among the alleys, arches and glimpses of the historic centre that provide the backdrop for an immersive cinematic experience.
