On May 29 and 30, 2025, in the charming historic center of San Nicola Arcella, the Thyrrenians cooperative society, in collaboration with the Didascalabria association and the ARCA ETS association, organizes "Crawford in Riviera dei Cedri", a literary festival dedicated to Folk Horror and Fantasy in Italy.
It is an innovative literary event dedicated to "Folk Horror" and "Fantasy", made up of many experiences and with a strong component of play, entertainment and fun. If Crawford, Hurley, King, Lewis, Lovecraft, Poe, Stoker, Tolkien and Tryon, could have met somewhere in space-time to discuss their literature, that place would certainly be this Festival.
The Festival aims to creatively and innovatively enhance the cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, linked to the presence of the famous late 19th century writer M.F. Crawford in the Riviera dei Cedri. Indeed, in the Norman Tower of San Nicola Arcella, now named after him, he wrote several of his short stories, and it was here that he set "Because Blood and Life", a typical tale of the Folk Horror genre.
