Choral singing in Calabria, yesterday and today

The Schola Cantorum Officium celebrates its 25th anniversary with an important conference dedicated to the Calabrian choral tradition on Sunday 16 March 2025 at the Conference Hall of the former IPSIA, in Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Ionio.

A meeting to explore the history and evolution of choral singing in Calabria, with a focus on liturgical and popular music. Experts in the field will share studies and reflections on musical traditions handed down orally and on new perspectives for Calabrian choral music. The event will also be an opportunity to present the project for the recovery and transcription of popular sacred songs from Sant'Andrea Apostolo dello Ionio, which will be performed next Easter.
