Calabrian Identity – Calabria of the Roots

From 8 to 16 November 2025, Castrovillari will host "Calabrian Identity – The Calabria of Roots", an exhibition dedicated to the region's popular culture and intangible heritage. The Protoconvento Francescano will host a series of exhibitions, workshops, meetings and shows that tell the story of authentic Calabria, its communities and the traditions that define its identity.

Promoted by the Pro Loco of Castrovillari with the support of the Calabria Region and the patronage of the Municipality and the F.I.T.P., the event will offer nine days of in-depth analysis and sharing, transforming the city into a living memory workshop. Scholars, artists and citizens will discuss the themes of tradition as a tool for cultural and social growth.

One of the highlights of the programme is 'L'Arbëria si racconta' (Arbëria tells its story), curated by the Pro Loco Arbëria of Lungro and the Arca Communication Cultural Association, a journey through the Arbëreshë communities of Calabria through customs, traditions and gastronomy. In collaboration with the Pollino Archaeological Group, it will also be possible to visit the Museum System of the City of Castrovillari - SiMuCCà, with special openings dedicated to the discovery of local artistic and historical treasures.
