From 1 August to 12 October 2025, San Lucido (CS) will become the capital of contemporary photography with the fourth edition of the Calabria Photography Festival, an event that brings international artists and original projects to Calabria to showcase the languages and visions of art photography.
For over two months, the Tyrrhenian village will be transformed into a widespread stage: exhibitions, installations and site-specific projects will enliven the streets, alleys and symbolic places of the historic centre, transforming them into spaces for discovery and reflection. Alongside the exhibitions, a packed programme of talks, events and workshops will offer opportunities for meeting, training and dialogue between professionals, enthusiasts and the public, strengthening the Festival's role as a cultural and creative platform.
The theme of this edition is 'Common Roots: Places', an invitation to explore the deep connection between the spaces we inhabit and the roots – physical, cultural and emotional – that connect us to them. Places thus become extensions of personal and collective memory, guardians of visible and invisible bonds, symbols of belonging, evolution and change.
Fifteen exhibitions are scheduled, with the first names already outlining a proposal of great international scope: from Spain's Lys Arango with the project The River Ran Blank to the Czech Republic's Marie Tomanova with It Was Once My Universe, from the Luce Archive with The Memory of Stations to Ukrainian photographer Mykhaylo Palinchak with Highlight. And then there is Japan's Kazuaki Koseki with Summer Fairies, Italy's Alessandro Toscano with Overturism, Alessandro Mallamaci with A Beautiful Place and Iran's Hashem Shakeri with Cast Out of Heaven.
