From 16 to 19 October 2025, Castrovillari will host the 13th edition of the Calàbbria Teatro Festival, now an unmissable event on the theatre scene in Calabria and southern Italy. This year's theme is 'Bbàci – Gesti che raccontano', a poetic and symbolic journey that explores the language of gestures as a means of storytelling, memory and resistance.
The festival opens on Thursday 16 October at 7 p.m. at the Vittoria Theatre with institutional greetings and an introduction to the artistic programme, followed by the presentation of the Frontiere Aperte Award to journalist Riccardo Cristiano and the inauguration of Pino Bruno's immersive installation, which can be visited free of charge for the duration of the event.
On Friday 17 October, the Sybaris Theatre will host the show 'Come se fossi Giulia', a dramatic reflection on femicide that invites the audience to confront social issues of great relevance.
On Saturday 18 October, again at the Vittoria Theatre, the day will begin with the presentation of the book 'Il bacio da sfogliare' by Ilaria Guidantoni, a journey through art, history and culture on the meaning of the gesture of kissing. This will be followed by a narrated walk with Ines Ferrante of Mystica Calabria, transforming body language into storytelling, creating a dialogue between memory and the present in the alleys of the city.
On Sunday 19 October, the big final returns to the Sybaris Theatre with the Theatre Short Film Festival, which gives space to emerging companies and new dramaturgy. Five short works, with different themes but united by a keen eye on contemporary issues, alternate on stage, culminating in the awarding of the Best Short Film prize, created by the Castrovillari goldsmith Stefano Marino.
