Avvicina – Art in Calabria from 1945 to today

On Saturday 27 September 2025, at 5:30 p.m., the exhibition "Avvicina – Art in Calabria from 1945 to today" will open, tracing over seventy years of creativity and artistic experimentation in the region.
The exhibition stems from the discovery of a forgotten archive of the former CUD in Rende, where a project to catalogue Calabrian art, curated by Prof. Simonetta Lux, was launched in the 1990s. After more than thirty years, these materials have come to light and interact with contemporary works, intertwining memory, history and the present.
The exhibition is spread across both the MIAI – Interactive Museum of Computer Archaeology and the outdoor spaces, with works from after 1995, site-specific interventions and unpublished works. Inside, the exhibition follows a timeline that recounts the key phenomena and developments in Calabrian art and its connection with the national scene.
The exhibition will be open until 26 October 2025: Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
