Museo della Liquirizia "Giorgio Amarelli"

The “Giorgio Amarelli” Liquorice Museum is located in Rossano, Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano in the province of Cosenza. It is one of the most important Business Museums in Calabria, founded by the historic Amarelli family, which has worked and processed the prized Liquorice of Calabria PDO for generations with dedication. Also known as the “Black Gold of Calabria”, liquorice is the product of excellence with which the Amarelli family is known throughout the world. Amarelli Liquorice Museum was established in 2001 to tell the story of the precious root and of the family itself, whose activity began in 1731. The Liquorice Museum in Rossano is housed in a 15th-century building and documents with archive materials (engravings, documents, period photos) the birth of the company: from the origins to the first forms of production, up to the present-day techniques, which combine tradition and innovation. The rooms reproduce the workshops of yesteryear, also evoking the customs and country life.
