MuSaBa and the Mammola Stockfish

A journey interweaving contemporary creativity and flavours of memory, in the heart of Calabria. Discover Mammola, an authentic village with ancient charm, known for its link with visionary art and its identity dish: stockfish. An experience combining cultural visit, gastronomic workshop and typical lunch, to experience Calabria with all the senses.

Programme
Stage 1 - Guided tour of the MuSaBa
The tour begins in the evocative setting of the MuSaBa - Santa Barbara Museum, an extraordinary park-museum founded by artists Nik Spatari and Hiske Maas. Located in the remains of a former Benedictine monastery, MuSaBa is now a unique contemporary art centre, where colours, mosaics and installations merge with nature. An expert guide will lead us through the works and the artistic vision of the founders, recounting a project that has transformed an abandoned place into a creative forge.

Stage 2 - Workshop on stockfish
From visual art we move on to culinary art. In a typical village restaurant, we will have an interactive experience discovering stockfish, a symbolic product of Mammola. Together with local producers, we will learn about the history of this food, its link with the culture of the area, and the traditional techniques of soaking, cutting and preparation.

Stage 3 - Typical lunch based on stockfish
The day ends with a full lunch celebrating the authentic taste of stockfish. The proposed menu varies according to seasonality and local tradition, with alternatives available on request for those who do not consume fish.
