Van Gogh Cafè - Opera Musical

Calabria is preparing to host an extraordinary theatrical event: the spectacular ‘Van Gogh Café Opera Musical’, an immersive show written and directed by Andrea Ortis, inspired by the life and works of the famous Dutch painter.

4 and 5 March 2024 at the Cilea Theatre in Reggio Calabria
7 and 8 March 2024 at the Politeama Theatre in Catanzaro

The show, produced by Mic International Company, brings to the stage a perfect mix of music, song, dance and 3D projections, immersing the audience in the vibrant Café Chantant in late 19th century Paris. The visual set-up, enhanced by immersive effects, transforms Van Gogh's works into vivid and engaging experiences, while the musical accompaniment evokes the atmospheres of the greatest French lyricists and singers, from Edith Piaf to Charles Aznavour.

The musical is based on the intense correspondence between Van Gogh and his brother Theo, bringing to light the artist's torments, passions and dreams. The narrative takes shape in a Café Chant, where music, dance and acting come together in an exciting and unique tale.
