The Truffle Train

The Tartufo Train returns... by night! This special event will take place on Saturdays of 20 July, 3 August, 17 August and 31 August 2024, thanks to the generous cooperation of the Municipality of Pizzo and local operators.

As part of the establishment of the new 'Tropea Line' night connections, active throughout the summer season, the Ferrovie in Calabria Association has drawn up a programme of events dedicated to the city of the Tartufo. These strategic rail connections will allow you to discover the wonders of Pizzo, leaving your car at home and enjoying an unforgettable evening.

The journey starts from Reggio Calabria Centrale, crossing the Costa Viola and the Costa degli Dei. Pizzo will also be easily reached from the stops of Villa San Giovanni, Scilla, Bagnara, Gioia Tauro, Rosarno, Tropea and all the other intermediate stops of Trenitalia's Tropea Line service.

During the event, participants will be accompanied on board the train and on a visit to Pizzo by the operators of the Associazione Ferrovie in Calabria. This will be a fantastic opportunity to discover, with a tour guide, the beautiful Murat Castle, the characteristic Piedigrotta Church, the Tonnara Museum and the historic centre, where you will have the opportunity to taste the characteristic Tartufo di Pizzo PGI. All transfers, including those to/from Pizzo railway station, will be made by a perfectly themed means of transport, namely the City of Pizzo's fun little tourist train on rubber tyres.
