“The Sila Special by Gli Uccelli d'Italia”
Ornithology conference, between new studies and conservation actions

On Friday, January 23, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., a conference of great scientific and naturalistic interest dedicated to the birdlife of the Sila National Park will be held in the Caldora Lecture Hall at the University of Calabria in Rende (CS).
The initiative celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the Italian Ornithological Society through the presentation of a special insert published in the prestigious magazine Gli Uccelli D'Italia. This monographic issue brings together ten important scientific contributions documenting the monitoring and study activities carried out in the MAB Sila area.
The conference offers a unique opportunity to explore Calabria’s ornithological heritage and to understand the importance of ongoing conservation efforts across the region. The event will conclude with a guided tour of the Zoology Museum at the University of Calabria, where participants can admire the scientific collections and learn more about the wildlife of Calabria.
