We invite you to participate in a programme full of initiatives celebrating the archaeological heritage of Francavilla Marittima (CS). From 31 October to 7 November 2024, the town will be the protagonist of cultural events, historical re-enactments, conferences and guided tours, offering a unique immersion into the world of the Goddess Athena and Epeo of Lagaria.
Programme:
Thursday 31 October - 5pm: Conference ‘An archaeological research and valorisation project on the Oenotrians and Peucetians’ at the Museo Civico Archeologico - Palazzo De Santis.
Sunday 3 November - 4 p.m.: Historical re-enactment in the centre of Francavilla Marittima with a costume procession, votive ceremonies and music in honour of the Goddess Athena. Followed by a guided tour of the Archaeological Museum.
Tuesday 5 November - 6 p.m.: Logo presentation and conference on ‘Il Borgo di Epeo’ at the Museo Civico Archeologico - Palazzo De Santis.
Wednesday 6 November - 9.30am: Guided tour of the Macchiabate Necropolis at the Timpone Motta Archaeological Park, with exhibitions, projections and 3D reconstructions of the site's historical phases.
Thursday 7 November - 10 a.m.: Inauguration of the renovation and enhancement works at the Archaeological Park, with award ceremony for the ‘La Dea Athena ed Epeo di Lagaria’ competition.
A unique opportunity to rediscover the link between myth and history that characterises Francavilla Marittima, exploring the roots and beauty of an area rich in culture.
