From 22 to 29 July 2025, Roccella Ionica will host the 16th edition of the Remo Bodei Summer School of Philosophy, a unique event in the cultural landscape of Calabria and Italy, combining critical thinking, civic engagement and dialogue between different fields of knowledge.
Promoted by the Scholé Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Roccella Ionica, the Universities of Pisa and Macerata and Radio Roccella, the School will take place in the former Convent of the Minims, the square in the Borgo district and the garden of the Elisa Scali Study Centre, offering 29 initiatives including lectures, meetings and workshops, all dedicated to this year's central theme: care.
From ancient philosophy to contemporary thinkers, via feminist thought and the challenges of socio-ecological justice, the School reflects on an increasingly urgent and topical concept, capable of suggesting a new ethical-political horizon, an alternative to the logic of consumption and destruction.
The inaugural lecture will be given by Bruno Centrone (University of Pisa), while throughout the week there will be alternating sessions with two speakers, shared readings and interdisciplinary dialogues involving scholars, students and citizens from all over Italy and abroad.
