A jaunty smile and formidable technique, Mike Stern has long been admired alongside Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Peter Erskine and many others. But then he began a long and fruitful career as a leader that led him to record 18 albums under his own name. At the age of 26, he was recruited for two years by the legendary Blood Sweet & Tears, then, in 1978, he met Billy Cobham, a Panamanian drummer-percussionist, one of the absolute references of the jazz-fusion genre that consecrated him definitively. His artistic flair - which ranges from orthodox jazz to fusion - has earned him several awards over the years, to which he has added four Grammy Award nominations, the utmost respect from critics and an audience that is always very fond and enthusiastic to follow him in concert.
